John Wichman - Guitarist

John still has the first guitar he received at age 13, a Kingston electric. The Beatles had just made it big, and he put his new guitar to good use learning to play their songs. During his early years, he was also influenced by other artists of the time, such as Simon and Garfunkle, Buffalo Springfield, Steppenwolf, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Eagles, and a Canadian group called "Klaatu", who wrote and harmonized like the Beatles, but were more technical instrumentally(check out the link).

John lived in California for many years, where he played in six different bands. One of those bands performed together for seven years. During that time, they recorded five albums, (you know those analog vinyl disk thingies), and performed in venues up and down the west coast including fun places such as Humphrey's by the Bay, the Queen Mary, and Magic Mountain.

More recently, John's style has been influenced by Acoustic Alchemy, Craig Chaquico, Spyro Gyra, and Wind Machine as his musical tastes "Leaped" into the New Age and Jazz genres.

After moving to Colorado, John began writing his own instrumental tunes, which he has performed at many area events including the New West Fest, First Night Fort Collins, Radio City Of The Rockies, and the Windsor Harvest Festival. Some other venues include the Lincoln Center, Masonic Temple, the Hope Center, Sunset Jazz Club, Avagadro's Number, Everyday Joe's, Tony's, the County Cork, Old Town Square, First Fruits Cafe', Lucky Joe's, Ptarmigan Country Club, the Soiled Dove, plus private parties.

John released his first solo CD in 2005. The CD received airplay at KUNC, KRFC, and KCSU. The title cut,"Leap of Faith", was selected by the Coloradoan Newspaper to be featured on their 2005 "Fort Collins Rocks" CD showcasing artists in Northern Colorado.

John is currently performing around the Front Range in Northern Colorado with fellow Acoustic Tapestry band mate, Sean McFeely. They are currently working on their Acoustic Tapestry debut CD.
